The anime Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers (Samurai Warriors), a direct sequel to the classic 80s action franchise, has released a new promotional video highlighting the second part of the series. In addition, the production confirmed the premiere of the new episodes for July 7, 2026 in Japan and revealed new opening and ending theme songs.

The new opening theme will be “Bad Idenshi,” performed by the band Dannie May, while the ending theme will be “Bakemon,” sung by karanoah. The video also introduces characters who will be featured in upcoming episodes, expanding the conflict surrounding the return of the demon emperor Arago.

Among the newly confirmed cast members are Tomoaki Maeno as Gomei, Aya Endō as Shimei, and Hiroshi Shirokuma as Gaimei. The team also reinforced the participation of Maaya Sakamoto as Yashimanosagume and Takehito Koyasu in the role of Inmei.

What is the story of Samurai Warriors?
The story follows five young warriors who use Yoroi Gear armor to confront supernatural threats in the Shinjuku region, in a contemporary setting. The protagonist Gai is played by Hiiro Ishibashi, accompanied by Junya Enoki, Ayumu Murase, Shunsuke Takeuchi, and Kentaro Kumagai.
The team brings together industry veterans
The anime is directed by Yoichi Fujita, known for his work on Gintama and Mr. Osomatsu, while Shogo Muto supervises the series' scripts. The animation is produced by Sunrise studio, responsible for the original series which aired between 1988 and 1989.
The project also features well-known names such as Yuhei Murota in the design of the protagonists and Shuji Katayama in the soundtrack. Currently, the series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
