It has been announced that Argentine director Andrés Muschietti (Mama) will direct the film Shadow of the Colossus, a cinematic adaptation of the PlayStation 2 game. This information comes from the ANN.
The plot will be based on the game in which a young man travels on horseback, killing colossal giants in various terrains, 16 in total, in order to revive his beloved. Seth Lochhead (Hanna) wrote the script.
Josh Trank (Chronicle) was attached to direct, but left the project due to commitments to Fantastic Four and Star Wars. The idea of adapting Shadow of the Colossus has existed since 2009, when Justin Marks signed an initial draft of the script.
Kevin Misher is producing the film alongside Barbara Muschietti, André's sister and co-star on Mama.
