Sanrio company has announced its anime adaptation of the smartphone game Show By Rock!! . The anime will air in late-night time slots starting in 2015. More information will be announced during the Niconico channel broadcast on Monday. The anime will be Sanrio's first anime production.
Sanrio describes the story of the original game on its website: Metropolis, MIDICITY. A girl dressed in gothic lolita clothing named Cyan is observed by Arisugawa, the president of a music agency. Little does she know that she will have a long journey in the world of bands alongside her friends Chuchu, Moa, and Retoree.
The company began distributing the game developed by Geeks for iOS and Android in 2012. The game is free, but it has in-game items that can be purchased.
