Chapter 117 of Spy x Family delivers one of the most intense confrontations of the current arc, pitting Yor Forger against Hemlock, the teammate who betrayed her at the mission's most vulnerable moment. Following the surprise attack in the previous episode, this new part of the story focuses entirely on the duel between the two Garden assassins, exploring not only the physical combat but also the ideological conflict between them.

Yor fights for love, Hemlock, for loneliness

From the beginning of the chapter, Hemlock makes it clear that he considers emotional bonds a weakness. He states that only the "strong love solitude" and despises the affection Yor shows for his family. His speech is accompanied by an arrogant and violent attitude, reminiscent of the worst side of the Garden, the one that sees assassins only as disposable tools.

Yor, on the other hand, doesn't try to argue. She lets her actions speak for themselves. Even wounded, with her clothes torn and blood running down her arms, she stands firm, using all her skills to resist. The difference between them lies not only in their combat techniques, but in the motives that drive them.

The battle: instinct, technique, and sacrifice

The fight is intense and long. Yor is cornered several times, but shows creativity and resilience, using not only the blade but also the hilt of the sword to fight back. At one point, she breaks her own weapon to counterattack, surprising Hemlock and turning the tables.

This act symbolizes how far Yor is willing to go to protect those she loves. She's not fighting for glory or approval from the Garden; she's fighting to ensure no one ever touches her family again.

Hemlock is defeated and confronted with his own hypocrisy

In the final moments, Yor manages to disarm Hemlock and knocks him down with a direct blow. Without shouts of victory or taunts, she simply says: “I won. Don’t mess with my family again.”

The sentence is short, but powerful. Hemlock, lying on the ground, is unable to react. The defeat is not merely physical, it is ideological. Someone who drew strength from his bonds defeats precisely the one who claimed to be invincible because he depended on no one.

The chapter ends with a scene that blends humor and critique: Hemlock's colleagues ignore him as he tries to isolate himself and reaffirm that he doesn't need anyone, treating him naturally as part of the group. This reveals that, deep down, he always sought acceptance, even while denying it all the time.

Connection to the previous chapter of Spy x Family

This outcome is a direct sequel to the tension built in chapter 116, where Garden's mission to protect the Miteran Elk is compromised by Hemlock's betrayal. Now, with Yor surviving the attack and proving his strength, the balance within the organization may begin to shift. Thus, the director's presence observing everything from a distance indicates that there will be internal political consequences within Garden, and Yor may become a key player in future chapters.
