Studio Ghibli has revealed the production of a new original short film titled “Majo no Tani no Yoru” ( A Night in the Valley of Witches ). According to reports, the animation will premiere on July 8th and will be shown exclusively at the Cinema Orion, located within Ghibli Park .

The project marks the first production created specifically for the studio's theme park. It is directed by Goro Miyazaki , known for Tales from Earthsea , alongside Akihiko Yamashita , who worked on Modest Heroes . The animated short takes place in the Valley of Witches area, which opened in 2024.
Ghibli Park opened in November 2022 within Aichi Expo Memorial Park. The space features themed areas inspired by the studio's works, such as Dondoko Forest and Mononoke Forest, enhancing the visitor experience with interactive settings.
Expansion of the Ghibli universe
“Majo no Tani no Yoru” reinforces the studio's strategy of expanding its content beyond traditional cinema. The park also follows the model of the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, which screens exclusive short films in rotating sessions.
