As we reported here, we have official confirmation of the new Sword Art Online movie: Progressive Scherzo of Deep Night. According to the official Twitter account, the adaptation will arrive in 2022 and revolves around the 5th floor of Aincrad in the original story.
The current film Sword Art Online: Progressive – Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria is directed by Ayako Kawano at A-1 Pictures. Kento Toya (Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments) is responsible for the character designs.
The film is based on the light novel Progressive by author Reki Kawahara. The novel was released in 2012 as a revised version retelling events that took place in Sword Art Online.
Finally, the story describes Kirito's journey through the floating castle of Aincrad from the beginning, floor by floor.
