The November issue of Monthly Hero Sword Gai manga series will soon get its animated version. According to the magazine, the series is scheduled to be released in 2016. Production will be carried out by the DLE studio.
The cast and other details will be announced soon. Toshiki Inoue (Kamen Rider 555, Kamen Rider Agito) currently writes the manga's story while Osamu Kine draws the manga based on the original characters by Keita Amemiya (Garo).
The story revolves around Gai, who was born next to a woman who met her death, in a forest. He was adopted by the blacksmith named Amon. A few years later Gai becomes Amon's apprentice, and while forging a sword, he loses his right arm. To help him, Amon crushes the demon sword Shiryu (literally Dragon of Death) to replace Gai's right arm. Gai is then able to fuse with the weapon on his arm, and fights his enemies.
The manga began in the December 2012 issue of Monthly Hero. The manga already inspired a CG 3D promotional video by studio Frontier Digital last year.
