Fans of the futuristic franchise received some sad news. Mattson Tomlin, the showrunner of Terminator Zero, officially confirmed that Netflix has canceled the production. Despite excellent critical reception, viewership numbers fell short of the streaming service's expectations.

Thus, the ambitious five-season plan was prematurely interrupted. Tomlin revealed that he already has the scripts for the second season ready and drafts for the third year. However, the creator refused a proposal from Netflix to finish the plot with only two or three extra episodes.

According to the author, this reduced conclusion wouldn't do justice to the scale of the planned narrative. He prefers that the first season's ending serve as a contained conclusion. Furthermore, Tomlin highlighted that the high cost and long production time demanded a massive audience response. Meanwhile, the screenwriter remains proud of the work done with the team. Finally, science fiction wait for Tomlin to share his original plans on social media in the future.
