Throughout its nearly 40 years in Jump magazine, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has come a long way. Its manga is currently in its ninth part ( The JoJoLands ), and the Steel Ball Run is on its way. Overall, creator Araki has been remarkably consistent over the past four decades. However, we've listed the most popular JoJo's Bizarre Adventure theories among fans.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Theories – Top 10
10. Josuke's Savior

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fans considers the mysterious delinquent who once saved Josuke and his mother. In the midst of a blizzard, Josuke and his ailing mother are trapped in a broken-down car on their way to the hospital. From the darkness of the night, a bloodied delinquent emerges—and he certainly looks a lot like Josuke. Therefore, the theory holds that the delinquent is, in fact, Josuke himself, returning in time to save himself.
Several problems make this theory highly unlikely: first, Josuke's uniform is just a school uniform; second, Josuke (inspired by the delinquent savior) was fashionable in the Japanese delinquent subculture of the time; third, Araki himself called any relationship irrelevant beyond the fact that the delinquent saved Josuke, becoming a lifelong inspiration.
9. Shizuka is the daughter of a Kira victim

Shizuka Joestar is a focal point of the beginning of Diamond is Unbreakable . During Joseph's stay in Morioh, he and Josuke encounter a baby with a Stand power that grants her invisibility when frightened. Although their journey was nominally motivated by the need to locate the user of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shizuka's plot brings Joseph and his illegitimate son, Josuke, closer together. Joseph adopts Shizuka—far more friendly than the last Stand-using baby JoJo saw him encounter—before leaving Morioh.
Many fans believe Shizuka was the daughter of one of Kira's victims, as a young single mother would perfectly fit his modus operandi . However, this doesn't explain how/why she received her Stand, nor why she and her mother separated. Araki never addressed this issue in an interview, but if that was his subtle intention, it would be a masterpiece of subtle world-building.
08. Jesus, the First John

Although this lies on the line between canon and fanon, the status of Jesus Christ as JoJo is nonetheless a much-loved detail. In short: Steel Ball Run revolves around the magical corpse of an unnamed saint. The story of this saint is similar to that of a certain Jesus Christ of Nazareth, but despite strong allusions, he has never been directly confirmed as the Saint. However, there is one tantalizing clue that stands out from all the others: Jesus' Hebrew name, "Yeshua bin Yosef".
Since this would roughly equate to "Joshua, son of Joseph," a patronymic aligned with "Joshua Josephson," fans are amused by the idea that Araki intentionally positioned Christ as a JoJo—implying that the Stand powers of Part 7, which come from the saint's scattered corpse, are miraculous in nature.
7. Jotaro has PTSD

The events of Stardust Crusaders are excruciating to imagine through Jotaro Kujo's eyes. Several friends die before his eyes, and he faces a nearly invincible enemy in DIO. When you consider that Jotaro was also only 17 years old at the time, the severe mental strain becomes even worse. Many fans of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure theorize that Jotaro developed PTSD as a result of the Stardust Crusaders narrative. JoJo 's greatest fight wouldn't come without a high price.
There's an interesting basis for this idea. For example, Jotaro voluntarily drops his time-stopping device for practice and avoids battles whenever possible. He also only screams twice in the entire series: the first time, when DIO sucks Joseph's blood; the second time, when Pucci unleashes a barrage of knives on Jolyne, just as DIO himself had done many years before. Overall, Jotaro's clear desire to leave the past behind convincingly proves that he is severely traumatized, if not dealing with PTSD.
06. The world copies the positions of the living Joestars

Speaking of The World, some fans have speculated that DIO's Stand ability is actually a copy of the Stand abilities of the living Joestars. This is an interesting inversion of how events are presented in Stardust Crusaders , where, obviously, Jotaro copies DIO's time-stopping ability. The essence of the theory is this: DIO, instead of possessing Jonathan's Stand powers, similar to Hermit Purple, and DIO's own Stand with the agility and power of Jotaro's Star Platinum, plus a time-stopping power, possesses a Stand that simply copies the Stands of the living Joestars.
It's interesting to imagine, since this would imply that Star Platinum always had a latent ability to stop time, and this would negate speculation about the power of Jonathan Joestar's Stand. However, certain plot points make this theory untenable: Diego Brando's alternate universe in Steel Ball Run possessing a The World capable of stopping time, for example, and also the explicit canonical confirmation that Jonathan Joestar's Stand is very similar to Hermit Purple's.

05. Mikitaka is an alien

One of the most interesting fan theories related to Diamond is that Unbreakable is based on something almost canonical, precisely because of how it can fit into other tangential parts of the JoJo . Mikitaka is the self-proclaimed alien that Josuke and his team first encounter during the battle against Super Fly, a Stand power attached to a pylon. Although he has a harmless transformation ability, it is unlikely to be a Stand power, since Mikitaka cannot see Stands.
Well, it's technically possible, but he has no reason to lie about it, except for a hypothetical chuunibyou complex. Araki likes to tease this idea, as he has never confirmed whether Mikitaka is an alien or simply very silly. If Mikitaka is taken literally, however, he offers a tantalizing connection to other extraterrestrial stories in JoJo; with Diamond is Unbreakable being the first to feature Stand Arrows prominently, this makes a possible connection even more likely.
04. Speedwagon was gay

This particular theory is straightforward, but since it has never been canonically confirmed, it's worth mentioning. Many JoJo believe that Robert E.O. Speedwagon, first introduced in Phantom Blood and a constant force throughout the original universe up to Stone Ocean, through his powerful Speedwagon Foundation, is a gay man (who may have been in love with Jonathan Joestar). His organization, founded in Battle Tendency , even finds a counterpart in the new JoJo as a sponsor of the Steel Ball Run race.
It goes without saying that JoJo wouldn't be JoJo without Speedwagon. Although he never participates in the many conflicts of the series, he became close to Jonathan and remained a longtime friend of his beloved widow, Erina. Speedwagon, however, never sought a partner, and the fact that he was called a "longtime bachelor" caused surprise. After all, "confirmed bachelor" was a coded expression to refer to gay men in the 19th and 20th centuries.

03. Joseph faked his cognitive decline

There's something about Diamond is Unbreakable that sparks the imagination of fans like no other JoJo . A frequent target is Joseph Joestar, the protagonist of several JoJo . Some fans believe Joseph faked his cognitive decline to escape the wrath of his wife, Suzy Q, after the revelation that the protagonist of the role, Josuke Higashikata, is their illegitimate son.
Some fans say that faking cognitive decline would be out of character for Joseph, but we don't know if we agree—after all, betraying Suzy Q is already "out of character" to begin with. On one hand, there is compelling evidence that Joseph's mind is a bit saner than he lets on; his quick reflexes when it comes to Shizuka are a frequently cited example, along with his mental acuity when his role as the character comes to an end. On the other hand, Araki directly attributes his mental recovery to caring for Shizuka.
02. Original personality of

This particular theory from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure can swing in two directions, both speculating about Diavolo/Doppio's original personality. In reality, the idea of an "original personality" is psychologically complex, to say the least. Whatever preceded "Diavolo" and "Doppio" would likely have been a combination of the two personalities. Within the realm of fiction, however, we are free to delve a little deeper and speculate. The possibility of Diavolo or Doppio being the original personality would have extreme implications.
On one hand, some say that a personality more consistent with Diavolo would have been their mutual predecessor, since “doppio” means “double” in Italian; Doppio, a childhood regression, emerged from Diavolo’s trauma in Sardinia. But there is an equally compelling argument that Diavolo’s aggressiveness and Stand powers—both ways of predicting and avoiding harm as well as inflicting it—could be a young Doppio’s psychic reaction to asserting total control, impetuous and immature in its scope, devastating in its power.
01. The Trilogy Theory

One of the theories that is most superficially confirmed also, unfortunately, ventures into the unfalsifiable—at least until JoJoLands JoJo 's extremely dedicated fanbase and decades-long history, it's natural that everyone wants to know when and how the series will end. An important read is the trilogy theory: JoJo's form a trilogy of trilogies.
- The first ( Phantom Blood , Battle Tendency , and Stardust Crusaders ) focuses on Dio as a main antagonist.
- The second ( Diamond is Unbreakable , Golden Wind , and Stone Ocean ) focuses on the long-term consequences of Dio, his travels through the world of JoJo , and the Stand Arrows.
- The third ( Steel Ball Run , Jojolion , and The JOJO Lands ) establishes a parallel continuity in another universe, complete with its own unique ideas, such as Rock Humans.
If true, it means JoJoLands will be the final installment in the series . Fans cite Araki's age (he's currently in his sixties) and his mastery of the trilogy format so far. On the other hand, Araki is aging, of course, but shows no signs of slowing down, either physically or creatively. After all, anime fans will soon see JoJo reach its creative peak, and it's worth noting that the agile mangaka hasn't lost any momentum since the debut of Steel Ball Run .
