My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.
  • Adult dōjin work created by Puuzaki Puuna.
  • Genre: supernatural fantasy and romantic comedy.
  • Central character: a Yuki-onna (snow woman from Japanese folklore).
  • Adaptation: TV anime already confirmed.
  • Unique feature: the anime's story will be original and different from the manga.

The Japanese dōjin scene has just received some unusual news. The manga adult The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring (Hitozukiai ga Nigate na Mibojin no Yuki Onna-san to Noroi no Yubiwa), created by Puuzaki Puuna, will be adapted for television. The announcement was made by the author himself through social media.

According to Puuna, this may be the first instance of an adult dōjin manga being adapted directly into a anime without first going through a traditional commercial release. While there are several adaptations of adult dōjin works into animation, they are usually released in OVA format aimed at the adult market.

The anime will have an original story

In addition to confirming the adaptation, the author revealed an important detail for those who follow the work. The anime will not exactly follow the events of the original material. According to Puuna, the production will feature an original story created especially for the television version.

Therefore, to celebrate the announcement, the artist also released a special illustration of the protagonist. Another commemorative artwork gained prominence on his social media, reinforcing the news for readers of the series.

About the original manga

Currently, the manga has two fully colored volumes. The story follows an apartment owner who finds a ring capable of controlling supernatural creatures, including yokai. However, upon discovering the object's power, he uses it on a Yuki Onna that lives in one of his properties.

The combination of elements from Japanese folklore and fantasy situations helped the work to win over a niche audience within the independent market. Now, we just have to wait for more information about the studio, cast, and expected premiere date of the anime. In the meantime, follow other news about anime, manga, and new seasons here at AnimeNew.
