Angry Birds movie will be made in 3D and has already chosen its directors; newcomers Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly have been hired to direct the film based on the game.
Reilly worked as a storyboard artist on Hotel Transylvania and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Kaytis was in the animation department for productions such as Wreck-It Ralph, Bolt, and Frozen. This will be the duo's directorial debut.
Jon Vitti , a veteran screenwriter for TV series such as The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and The Office, is writing the Angry Birds movie. Sony Pictures is developing the computer-animated film in partnership with Rovio, the company behind the Angry Birds game. David Maisel, former chairman of Marvel Studios, will serve as executive producer, and John Cohen, who oversaw Despicable Me, will produce. Angry Birds: The Movie premieres on July 1, 2016.
