One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda confirmed in a statement that some characters from his manga will not be present in the live-action adaptation. Many characters from East Blue are included in the first season of the series, but it seems some had to be cut.

Luffy 's voice actress in the Japanese version, Mayumi Tanaka , shared this letter from Eiichiro Oda during the One Piece Day 2023 event. Additionally, the official Netflix also shared the letter to update fans. According to their statement, Oda says he is aware that fans will say some characters or scenes are missing from this adaptation. However, he and the Netflix team will be open to receiving all criticism because they believe the series is very faithful to the manga.
Finally, the main cast of the series includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Zoro, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Emily Rudd as Nami. The series will premiere on August 31st on Netflix.
Synopsis:
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red-Haired, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates.
