The March issue of Kodansha 's Afternoon The Darwin Incident manga will go on hiatus due to the author's recovery from an illness.

The magazine did not reveal when the manga will resume.

Synopsis

Raised in a biological sciences laboratory, Charlie is a half-human, half-chimpanzee hybrid known as “Humanzee.” Charlie is now 15 years old and starting high school. There he meets Lucy, an intelligent loner who becomes his first friend. But her “normal” life is shattered when the animal rights extremists who freed her mother from the lab fifteen years ago resurface as terrorists bent on kidnapping Charlie at all costs.

Shun Umezawa launched the manga in Afternoon magazine in 2020. Kodansha then published the fourth volume of the manga in April 2022 and will publish the fifth volume on March 23.

The Darwin Incident won the 15th Manga Taisho Award in 2021 . Additionally, he also won an Excellence Award in the Manga Division of the Japanese government's Ministry of Cultural Affairs' 25th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2022.

In addition, the work also ranked 10th for manga aimed at a male audience in the 2022 edition of Kono Manga ga Sugoi.
