The anime The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mou Shindeiru) has released its second promotional video along with new character visuals and details about the soundtrack. The sequel premieres in October 2026 and also marks the five-year anniversary of the anime adaptation of the light novel written by Nigoju.

The new preview highlights the return of central characters such as Kimihiko Kimizuka, Siesta, Nagisa Natsunagi, Yui Saikawa, and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson. Furthermore, the material offers a new perspective on the events that will follow up on the mysteries left by the first season.

Synopsis

The Detective Is Already Dead follows Kimihiko, a young man who became the assistant of the legendary detective Siesta. Even after the protagonist's death, events connected to her past continue to influence the lives of those left behind.

According to the production team, the new season will delve deeper into previously unrevealed secrets, exploring the past, conflicts, and motivations of the main characters as the plot approaches important answers.

Music and soap operas get new updates

Composer 40mP will be responsible for the soundtrack, as well as the series' theme songs. The opening theme, titled "Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo", will be performed by Kokoume. The ending theme, "Hakuchuumu" , will be performed by Kagura Nana, who returns after participating in the first season.

Another new development is the release of volume 14 light novel , scheduled for October 23rd in Japan. Finally, the cover of the new edition also debuted during the celebrations of the franchise's fifth anniversary.
