The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) revealed on Wednesday afternoon, March 11th, that due to the Covid-19 outbreak (new coronavirus), it has cancelled the E3 2020 event, the largest gaming that was scheduled to take place from June 9th to 11th.

After careful consultation with member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry – our fans, our employees, our exhibitors, and our long-time E3 partners – we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.

Given the growing and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best course of action during this unprecedented global situation. We are deeply disappointed that we cannot hold this event for our fans and supporters. But we know it is the right decision based on the information we have today.

Some companies have offered to broadcast their panels online via Twitter.

Microsoft , led by Phil Spencer, revealed on Twitter that the company will hold a digital Xbox

Finally, Ubisoft stated that it understands the reason for the event's cancellation and is exploring other options for a digital experience that will allow it to showcase the news it has planned.
