It is with little satisfaction, although already expected, the announcement that the production of the Hunter x Hunter ended its activities after the end of the dubbing of episode 148 (which is currently in episode 143), confirmed by seiyuu Megumi Han.

Hunter x Hunter already had a break, and what a break… The anime stopped in 2001, returning only 10 years later, in August 2011 with a new version: Hunter x Hunter (2011) or Hunter x Hunter remake.

Yoshihiro Togashi (the author of the work) is already famous for his immense laziness. The manga will continue to be released weekly. The anime will likely go all the way up to Gon and Ging's meeting, almost like the ending of the 1999 version. Gon was looking for Ging but found someone else, and the ending left that suspenseful "Who is he?"

To celebrate the series' conclusion, animator Takahiko Abiru will travel to the United States for the first time. Check out the tweet he left for fans:

Hunter x Hunter is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi (YuYu Hakusho). It is published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine and currently has 32 tankōbon. As of August 2011, the manga had sold 55 million copies in Japan. The animated series was originally produced by Nippon Animation with 62 episodes and 6 OVAs. A remake is currently being produced by Madhouse. A musical was also produced in 2001, featuring the characters' voice actors.
