The publisher Shueisha confirmed that the film , which promises to be the last in the Gintama , will receive a light novel, to be released simultaneously with the film.
The film is being advertised as "the end, this time for real," and will be based on the manga's ending, combined with new story elements.
The Gintama manga is also inspiring a new anime special , with a story that will connect to the film.
