The Last of Us II – Game is postponed due to coronavirus

Sony has just announced via Twitter that the game The Last of Us part II will be postponed indefinitely, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Originally, the Iron Man would be released on May 15th, and the sequel to The Last of Us on May 28th.

Last of Us Part II producer Naughty Dog sent its own statement regretting the circumstances.

As you've probably just seen, the release of The Last of Us Part II has been delayed. We are sure this news is as disappointing for you as it is for us. We would like to speak to everyone in our community to give them a little more information.”

Check out Sony's note on Twitter :

“The good news is that we are almost done with development on The Last of Us Part II. We are in the middle of fixing our final bugs.”

“However, even if we finished the game, we faced the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we would not be able to release The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure everyone can play the game at more or less the same time, ensuring we're doing everything we can to preserve the best experience for everyone. This means postponing the game until a time when we can resolve the logistical issues.”

“We are sad about this decision but we understand that it is the best and fairest for all our players. We hope this is not a long delay and we will update you as soon as we have new information to share.”

“We wish all of you, your families and friends the best of health. Thank you for being amazing fans and your continued support.”

“Stay safe!”

Finally, the sequel to the acclaimed 2013 game takes place five years after the events of the first game and would star Ellie, following her journey of revenge against a group that attacked her along with her romantic partner, Dina. Joel, his father figure and protagonist of the original, would accompany him throughout this story.
