Detective Conan: The Nightmare opened Saturday in 348 theaters and topped the Japanese box office in its first week. The film grossed 1.209 billion yen, 38% more than Detective Conan: Sunflower, the 2015 film.
The film broke box office records despite 11 cinemas canceling screenings due to the Kumamoto earthquake.
