Yusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old delinquent, dies after saving a child in a car accident. The Spirit World is surprised by his death and offers him the chance to return as a "spirit detective" tasked with defeating demons.

  • Screenwriter: Tatsurō Mishima
  • Visual Effects Supervisor: Ryō Sakaguchi (The Lord of the Rings, X-Men)
  • Main Actor (Yusuke Urameshi): Takumi Kitamura (live-action Tokyo Revengers, Let Me Eat Your Pancreas)

TOHO Studios and Netflix then signed a multi-year contract to rent two of TOHO's stage facilities in Tokyo starting in April 2021. Therefore, Netflix's first production there is precisely the live-action series of Yu Yu Hakusho.
