The cover of the September issue of Kodansha 's Monthly Shonen Magazine Marimo Ragawa 's manga Mashiro no Oto will receive an anime adaptation in April 2021.
Synopsis
The story follows a girl who encounters a boy on the street with a peculiar instrument. This meeting between an aspiring idol singer and a shamisen player, a traditional Japanese three-stringed instrument, leads them both on a journey to discover their figurative and literal voices.
Ragawa launched the manga in Monthly Shonen Magazine in December 2009. Kodansha published the manga's 25th volume on May 15. Incidentally, Mashiro no Oto was nominated for the 23rd annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize last year.
The manga is celebrating 10 years of serialization this year, and to commemorate it, Kodansha released a promotional video for an anime adaptation of the manga in May.

Furthermore, Ragawa also serialized the manga Baby & Me, which ran for 18 volumes between 1991 and 1997. The manga inspired an anime adaptation from 1996 to 1997 and a Korean live-action film in 2008.
Finally, Mashiro no oto also won the 36th Kodansha Award for Best Shonen and an "excellence award" at the 16th Japan Media Arts Festival.
