Netflix reveals never-before-seen artwork from the One Piece remake

The highly anticipated new adaptation of One Piece received new updates during Netflix 's panel at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The project, titled The One Piece, revealed the first official artwork for the premiere episode, called Romance Dawn .

This chapter marks the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy and makes a direct reference to the first chapter of the manga created by Eiichiro Oda. Furthermore, the team confirmed that new concept art for upcoming episodes will be released in the future.

The first season will have 7 episodes

Netflix has confirmed that the first season will arrive in February 2027 with seven episodes. According to the information released, the production will adapt the first 50 chapters of the manga in approximately 300 minutes of runtime, covering the East Blue Saga in a more condensed way.

The team brings together names from major anime studios

The series is directed by Masashi Koizuka, known for his work on Attack on Titan. Taku Kishimoto will oversee the script, while the project is produced by Wit Studio.

In a previous interview, George Wada explained that the remake will have a more direct pace, eliminating the drawn-out elements present in the original Toei Animation. At the same time, the producer emphasized that the new version will continue to respect the legacy built by the anime over its 25 years.
