Hello! My name is Charlles and I'm passionate about Japanese culture, especially the world of anime. Here, I share trivia, news, and everything related to this world...

Jujutsu Manga – Returning from Hiatus

Now, who doesn't remember the anime , which was by far the biggest hit of 2020? Furthermore, we have exciting news: on December 24th, we'll have the premiere of the movie called Jujutsu Kaisen 0! However, the manga was on hiatus since the beginning of June due to the author's health problems. Nevertheless, he has just returned after about a month's rest and is back in full force to bring us the manga's storyline.

Thus, today, August 1st, we have the official return of the manga with chapter 153. However, it returns not only bringing several new things, but also a great reference to one of the greatest classics of international cinema.

Jujutsu Manga – A Film Reference

Therefore, in chapter 153, we see a major reference to Fight Club. This book, written by Chuck Palahniuk in 1996, was later adapted into a worldwide hit film of the same name. The film, which revolves around two young men who decide to start a men's fight club with strict rules, is noteworthy. The plot unfolds in a captivating way and offers harsh critiques and reflections on society, such as rampant consumerism, freedom, and dreams.

Consequently, in the return of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, we see our protagonist and Fushiguro going to a Fight Club that serves the same purpose as in the film. Furthermore, one of the characters' lines is the same as in the movie: "1st rule of Fight Club: you do not talk about Fight Club." Therefore, the author's reference and his effort to make it clearer become increasingly evident.

Conclusion

In short, Fight Club is a very complex and absurd film. So, if you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend you do so now. But in any case, it's very difficult to know what the author meant with such an obvious reference. He may be referring to the pressure he faced to return to the work, the growing consumerism of his work, or he may simply have watched the film while relaxing and decided to use that idea for the manga.

In short, I believe that if there's any mystery behind it, only time will tell. In other words, all we can do is patiently wait for the next chapters to see how the story unfolds and about the Fight Club that Yuji started attending.

So guys, that was my special post for the day and I hope you enjoyed it. Any criticism or suggestions, leave them in the comments and see you next time!
