In an open letter sent by CD Projekt Red, the studio announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be delayed. The game will need an additional 12 weeks to be finished, pushing its release date to May 19, 2015.
Below, you can see the letter sent by the company in its entirety:
Dear players:
From the moment we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew this would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast and completely open fantasy universe.
The size and complexity of The Witcher, integral aspects of the title, had a decisive impact on production. Now, as we reach the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio's history, we want to be absolutely certain that we have done everything to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to fully enjoy the game.
With that in mind, we looked at our current workload and what it means for the team. Despite everyone working at full capacity, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are changing the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19, 2015.
We owe you an apology. We set the release date too quickly. It's a hard lesson, one we'll take into account in the future. We know we want to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you'll ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve that. So we apologize and ask for your trust.
Thank you for all the support you show us every day. We truly appreciate it. It has motivated us in our passion from the start and will continue to do so
