The news of the 2nd season of the anime came as a pleasant surprise to fans, but the road to this announcement was filled with uncertainty.

In a recent statement, producer Shouta Umehara revealed that there were initially no plans to continue the series. It was the overwhelming support from the audience and the dedication of the staff that made this dream a reality.

We hadn't planned a second season, but the love and support from everyone who followed the series motivated us to move forward. I'm immensely grateful to the members of Kessoku Band, Aniplex, and all the collaborators who made this possible. This support inspired me to recommit and give my best.

The producer also recalled both relaxed and challenging moments during production. At a party celebrating the release of the compiled films, the director and part of the crew seemed uninterested in the franchise's future. However, the situation became so unusual that editor Takuya Sekoguchi , after a few too many drinks, ended up falling asleep on the set.

At that point, we joked about continuing the story with another studio. I wondered if it would be worth dedicating my life to this project.

Despite the doubts, the second season of Bocchi the Rock is confirmed and will be directed by Yusuke Yamamoto, who previously served as assistant director and directed some episodes of the first season, replacing Keiichiro Saito. Umehara concluded his message with a special thank you to the fans and staff: "This was only possible thanks to you. Thank you for believing in us!"
