Ultraman - Anime will have a 2nd season on Netflix!

anime adaptation of the Ultraman manga, by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi, has been greenlit for a second season on Netflix. The announcement was made during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2019 in France by directors Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki.

The first season premiered on the service's catalog on April 1st of this year, and the animation is by Production IG (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Napping Princess) and Sola Digital Arts (Appleseed Alpha, Starship Troopers: Invasion, Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars).

Netflix described the anime's story:

Several years have passed since the events of Ultraman, with the legendary "Giant of Light" (光の巨人 Hikari no Kyojin) now a memory, as he is believed to have returned home after battling the many giant aliens that invaded Earth. Shinjiro, son of Shin Hayata, seems to possess a strange ability, and it is this ability, along with his father's revelation that he was Ultraman, that leads Shinjiro to fight the new aliens invading Earth as the new Ultraman.

Ryohei Kimura starred in the first season as Shinjiro Hayata, and the other cast members included Takuya Eguchi as Dan Moroboshi, Megumi Han as Seiji Hokuto, and Hideyuki Tanaka as Shin Hayata.
