The story of Oshi no Ko focuses on the world of music and its dark side hidden behind the glamour. The big twist comes at the end of the first episode when singer Ai Hoshino dies after being stabbed by a stalker. Ciao Nekotomi then gave an interview to the website Anime Trending , talking about the anime's production process and the twist in the premiere.

“In terms of scenes, definitely, even from the stage where I was drawing the storyboards, the scene I gave my all to was when Ai dies. I dealt with that throughout the entire directing process, and that part was something I really coordinated closely with Hirayama-san to make it happen. Hirayama-san was able to provide very detailed animation specifications, such as: “For this part here, I want this person to draw it.” So, to do this or that scene, we would even convince and go looking for certain people.”
The series premiered on April 12 with a 90-minute episode and is confirmed for a total of eleven episodes, with the HIDIVE handling its distribution in the West.
