This month, Shueisha announced that the manga "Oshi no Ko," by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, has reached over 9 million copies in circulation.
However, the announcement did not specify whether that number includes digital copies or not.
Oshi no Ko – Number of copies of the manga in circulation doubles
In March, before the anime adaptation of the manga premiered, it had 4.5 million copies in circulation. Since then, the manga has doubled its number of copies in circulation in less than two months after the anime premiered.
Thus, the series currently has 11 volumes released. Akasaka and Yokoyari have been serializing the manga since 2020 in Shueisha 's Weekly Young Jump .
The first season of the anime Oshi no Ko, directed by Daisuke Hiramaki, premiered on April 12th in Japan and has been gaining popularity with each new episode released.

Synopsis
The story follows a doctor named Gorou, a fan of a 16-year-old idol named Ai Hoshino. One day, Hoshino appears at his office, claiming to be pregnant with twins, but her manager tells her to abort the babies. However, the idol refuses; she wants to have both children. Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure will result in his premature death, or so he thought. However, upon opening his eyes in the arms of his beloved idol, Gorou discovers he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, Ai's newborn son! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that the world of showbiz is full of controversies, where talent doesn't always bring success.
