The International Manga Award was created in May 2007 at the initiative of the then Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taro Aso , to recognize manga artists who have contributed to the dissemination of manga culture worldwide, and also to the promotion of international cultural exchange. The award has been held annually.
The best manga will be awarded the Gold Award. Three other outstanding works will be awarded the Silver Award. The winners will be invited by the Japan Foundation to travel to Japan to participate in the Awards Ceremony. They will have meetings with manga artists to exchange ideas and visits to publishing houses.
- Registration period runs until June 17, 2016 (Friday).
- Publication of results: between the end of 2016 and January 2017
