The official website for Square Enix 's Young Gangan magazine announced that the manga adaptation of the "86" light novel series has been canceled
Additionally, Square Enix's Manga Up service also announced that Hakuya Yamasaki 's manga 86: Run Through the Battlefront has been canceled. Both announcements cited the creator's ongoing health problems.
After consulting with Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint (which publishes the original light novel), Square Enix decided to cancel both manga series.
Synopsis:
The pure-blooded Albas form the 85 districts of the Republic, excluding mixed-race individuals into a "non-existent" district, the 86th. And, in this war against the Empire, it is the mixed-race individuals of district 86 who form the trenches on the battlefields and fight to the death or, if they survive, to be accepted into republican society. Lena is the young commander who accepts the mission of commanding the troublesome Spear Head squadron, led by Shin, from afar on the front lines of the battle against the Empire.
