Through its official Twitter account, Suisei no Gargantia has been given the green light for a sequel. Details can be found on the anime's official website. The announcement was also made in a commercial for the Tokyo MX channel, which is already re-airing the anime.

In Suisei no Gargantia, during an intense battle, the young Lieutenant Red and his humanoid weapon Chamber fall into a space-time distortion. After waking from his induced hibernation, Red realizes he is on Earth, a planet completely flooded by oceans, where the population must live on large ships.
