The 2026 edition of AnimeJapan registered a record audience, according to organizers. The event gathered 156,000 visitors on March 28th and 29th, 2026, surpassing the 152,400 from the previous year. This growth reinforces the global relevance of the fair dedicated to the anime.

Furthermore, the convention featured over 130 exhibitor booths, the largest number ever recorded. The event maintained four main stages — Red, Blue, Green, and White — which together hosted approximately 50 panels with announcements and special presentations.

AnimeJapan has been held since 2014 and emerged from the union between Tokyo International Anime Fair and Anime Contents Expo . The event did not take place in 2020 and had an online edition in 2021 due to the pandemic, returning to the in-person format in subsequent years.

Upcoming AnimeJapan events in Osaka

For the first time, the event will leave Tokyo. The 2027 and 2028 editions will take place in Osaka, with the next one scheduled for March 27th and 28th at the Intex Osaka convention center. The industry-focused days will follow the general public days, although the venue is still to be determined.

With this, AnimeJapan expands its presence in Japan and seeks new regional audiences. For more news about the anime, follow other updates on AnimeNews and stay informed about upcoming seasons and major events.
