We know that the end of Shingeki no Kyojin ( Attack on Titan ) is getting closer and closer. The series has already finished its manga , and soon the anime will too. Therefore, all fans are watching its conclusion closely. Attack on Titan promises a resounding ending, but after the release of the poster on Saturday (20), considered quite “simple” by fans, the anime director Yuichiro Hayashi went public to clarify.

“As for the main visual, I think this will be the final visual for the final season,” he shared. “It might surprise you that it’s going in the exact opposite direction from the characters that have been presented so far, but I decided to follow a simple path… I think there’s something that appeals to the imagination [when] there’s nothing. There are some things that are interesting, but not sophisticated enough to explain, and it would be a spoiler, so I hope you can expand your imagination and look forward to the final part [of the anime].”.

As you can imagine, Hayashi and his team are still working hard on Attack on Titan. MAPPA has confirmed that the anime will have its grand finale this fall (2023), but that's all we know for now.

Does the director's statement about the final episode of Attack on Titan make sense?

The latest seasons of the Attack on Titan premiered on NHK in December 2020, airing a total of 16 episodes. Part 2 premiered with episode 76 on NHK General on January 9th and aired a total of 12 episodes. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the second part as it aired in Japan.

Synopsis

Humans encounter Titans in Shiganshina District after years of peace. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin witness the appearance of the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan, which breach Wall Maria. The Titans invade the city and wreak havoc, including the death of Eren's mother, who is devoured before his eyes. He then decides to seek revenge on all Titans by joining the Survey Corps.

Finally, Hajime Isayama launched the manga in Kodansha 's Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in 2009, and finished serialization in April 2021. The 34th and final volume of the manga was released in June 2021.
