Toei Animation's projections regarding Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (Kami to Kami) seem to have been accurate. In its third week of release, the feature film continues to perform well at the box office, having already grossed over 2 billion yen (R$ 41 million), becoming the first Japanese film of 2013 to achieve this feat in such a short time. In its opening weekend, the film grossed approximately 680 million yen (R$ 14 million). 1,823,141 tickets have been sold so far, and it is expected that during Golden Week, the Japanese spring break, the number of ticket holders will be even higher.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods premiered on March 30th in 312 theaters and comfortably holds the top spot in the ranking of most-watched films by the Japanese. Toei Animation predicts a final box office of 3 billion yen (R$ 60 million) for the film. Japanese audiences will have six weeks to see the new adventure of Goku and company in theaters.
