The July issue of Kodansha 's Afternoon announced a new anime of the manga Blade of the Immortal Kodansha confirmed that this anime adaptation will cover the entire manga's content.

Hiroaki Samura 's manga had 30 volumes, all published by Afternoon between 1993 and 2012. The manga is currently published in Brazil by JBC under the title: Blade – The Immortal Blade and is on its 15th volume. In addition, in 2008, an anime adaptation by Production IG aired on Japanese television.
