Crunchyroll revealed during the Sony Group Corporation conference at CES 2025 that it is developing a new digital manga app . Called Crunchyroll Manga , the app will be a premium extension of the service and is scheduled for release in late 2025. Initially, it will be available in English for the United States and Canada , with plans to include other languages later.

The app will launch for iOS and Android, with web browser support planned for the future. This launch marks a strategic return for Crunchyroll to the digital manga publishing segment, after having started its operations in this area in 2013.

Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, shared his expectations for the new project:

Crunchyroll Manga will be an innovative platform that brings together catalogs from renowned publishers, providing fans with exclusive access to the works that inspire the anime we love so much. With this exciting new venture, we aim to add even more value to the Crunchyroll subscription, complementing our extensive anime library, the Crunchyroll Game Vault, and the wide selection of the Crunchyroll Store.

Recent data highlights that around 70% of anime fans read digital manga at least once a month. This statistic reinforces the growing demand for this format. However, the company believes that the new app will not only cater to this audience but also boost the global popularity of anime and manga.

Crunchyroll's promise of experience and technology:

Promising an enhanced experience and top-tier titles, Crunchyroll Manga will be a landmark in the digital manga market. Stay tuned for upcoming updates on the titles and publishers that will be available on the app.

Finally, this new initiative highlights Crunchyroll to expanding the horizons of Japanese entertainment for fans around the world.
