In an interview with The New York Times , Oda is asked about the failure that live-action anime adaptations often experience. The reporter then uses the adaptations of Ghost in the Shell (2017) and Cowboy Bebop (2021) as examples of failure, and asks the mangaka if One Piece wouldn't suffer the same fate. However, Oda stated that the live-action adaptation of his manga was excellent.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit).
