FromSoftware released new details this Thursday (13) about Elden Ring: Nightreign, a spin-off of the acclaimed RPG Elden Ring. Scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, the game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (via Steam). Pre-orders for the digital version are already open, while the physical edition can also be reserved from today.
- Digimon Story is the new RPG game announced for 2025
- Cyrus forces Pokémon TCG Pocket players to rethink strategies
During the live stream, director Yasuhide Kitao described the title as a "short RPG focused on exploration and cooperative battles for up to three players." While preserving the essence of the Elden Ring universe, the game features completely new mechanics and a design that emphasizes collaboration between participants to overcome challenges in nighttime environments.

Innovative mechanics and challenges characteristic of FromSoftware
One of the highlights of the presentation was the detailed explanation of unique mechanics that promise to elevate the gaming experience. Among the new features:
- Dynamic weapon switching: Players can switch between weapons quickly and strategically.
- Revive allies with attacks: By hitting enemies, you can help fallen comrades get back on their feet.
- Special items: By defeating powerful enemies, players will unlock exclusive equipment.
Kitao made it clear that the traditional difficulty of FromSoftware games will be present: "In the beginning, being defeated several times will be normal," he commented.
Furthermore, each session lasts, on average, 35 to 40 minutes, with events adjusted to offer a fluid experience in exploration and combat. However, the game becomes significantly more challenging for those playing in solo mode, as the main focus is on multiplayer.

Elden Ring: Nightreign will focus on cooperative multiplayer and accessibility
To foster interaction between players, the title will feature simplified communication tools, such as:
- Visual gestures already familiar from previous games.
- Special communication items, such as the "talking stones" seen in Demon's Souls.
The matchmaking system will allow the formation of teams with up to two friends and one random player, using shared passwords. However, it has been confirmed that the game will not support crossplay between different platforms. On the other hand, there will be compatibility between generations of the same console, such as PS4 and PS5.
This decision may limit some interactions in multiplayer, but according to the developers, it will not compromise the overall experience.
Creative changes and absence of classic elements
One curious point addressed in the broadcast was the absence of areas with poisonous swamps, a prominent element in games directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, such as Dark Souls and Elden Ring itself. Director Kitao explained that this decision reflects the new creative direction under Junya Ishizaki, responsible for the battles in the main title of the franchise.
With a unique approach, Elden Ring: Nightreign expands the franchise's universe and promises to captivate both veteran fans and new players. Its innovative mechanics, cooperative challenges, and short-duration design offer a more dynamic experience, while remaining true to FromSoftware's established style.
The full stream, which includes gameplay and detailed explanations about the title, is available online for those who wish to delve even deeper into the details.
