The highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of Sakamoto Days has just added a new cast member: actor Takahashi Fumiya has been confirmed as Shin Asakura, the partner of protagonist Taro Sakamoto, played by Ren Meguro (Snow Man).

Shin is a skilled assassin with the gift of reading minds—a character who blends charisma, intensity, and empathy. In his first experience with action films, Takahashi revealed that he faced challenges mastering the fight scenes. However, he highlighted the support of director Yuichi Fukuda and the cast.

“I trained a lot to express Shin’s most incredible side. Working alongside Meguro-san was inspiring; he’s someone I truly admire,” the actor commented.

In addition to the announcement, the studio also released new character visuals and a brand new video. The live-action Sakamoto Days video shows Takahashi in the midst of intense combat, with shooting and martial arts choreography that promises to impress fans.

The work also received an anime that aired in January of this year. The film is scheduled to premiere during Golden Week 2026, distributed by Toho and produced by Avex Pictures and Credeus.

Finally, Takahashi thanked the fans for their support and stated that he hoped the audience would "have as much fun as he did during filming.".
