Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed that Yuto Suzuki's popular manga Sakamoto Days will receive a live-action film adaptation . The announcement came in the magazine's 43rd issue, which featured the character Taro Sakamoto in his slimmer form on the cover , accompanied by the message: "Finally, a live-action film adaptation! Thank you all for your immense support of this extraordinary assassin series!"

According to reports, the film will be distributed by Toho during Golden Week 2026, between April 29th and May 5th. More official details will be released on September 23rd (Japan time). Therefore, fans can expect news about the cast and director soon.

Manga and anime are hugely successful

With over 15 million copies in circulation, Sakamoto Days has established itself as one of Shonen Jump's biggest hits in recent years. Taro Sakamoto, a legendary retired assassin, lives peacefully with his family, but a visit from a former colleague forces him to return to the underworld.

In addition to the manga, the work also received an anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment studio, available worldwide on Netflix. Therefore, the film arrives to further expand the reach of the franchise.

Finally, fan anticipation is enormous, since live-action adaptations of action manga always generate intense debate, but Sakamoto Days promises to deliver plenty of adrenaline on the big screen.
