The Gintama franchise will return to theaters on October 6, 2026, with the premiere of a fully reanimated film of the Yoshiwara in Flames arc . The film will adapt the intense battle against Housen, shown between episodes 139 and 146 of the anime.

The official trailer highlights the new animation in cinemascope (2.35:1). Production will be handled by BN Pictures, directed by Naoya Ando. The project will also feature Youichi Fujita as supervising director, Taku Kishimoto on the script, and Shinji Takeuchi in character design and animation direction.

Created by Hideaki Sorachi, the manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2018 and concluded in Jump Giga in 2019. The anime adaptation had 367 episodes, several OVAs, films, novels, and games, becoming a cultural phenomenon.

The anime began under Sunrise 's responsibility , until Bandai Namco Pictures took over in the fourth season. However, the last major release was Gintama: The Very Final , in 2021, which adapted the final arc of the manga. The film grossed over 1.85 billion yen (approx. 17 million dollars) and stood out among the highest-grossing productions in Japan that year.

With the new reanimated version of Yoshiwara in Flames, fans will be able to relive one of the most memorable moments of the series with updated quality and cinematic visuals.
