The official website for Girl Friend BETA has released a promotional video. The series premieres in Japan on October 12th. The anime adapts the novel from the CyberAgent social simulation game of the same name. The five previously announced cast members are reprising their roles from the 2012 game.
Naotaka Hayashi (Magi – The Kingdom of Magic) will direct the anime at studio SILVER LINK (No-Rin, C³, Baka and Test). Michiko Yokote (Love Stage!!, No-Rin, Genshiken) will handle series composition. Noriko Tsutsumiya (Dragonar Academy, C³, Kokoro Link animation director) is designing the characters based on original character designs by QP:flapper (MM!, Oreimo 2, Sora no Method).
Kadokawa will launch the first edition of the special Girl Friend (Kari) Magazine on August 22nd. The magazine will include four manga series that focus on specific characters from the anime.
The CyberAgent blog site launched the service for the smartphone game in 2012. By June 2014, the number of registered users had surpassed 5.3 million. The game features over one hundred girls for the player to date, each voiced by a different voice actress.
