Toho revealed the first trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero , a direct sequel to the 2023 Japanese film, during CinemaCon 2026. The preview showed never-before-seen scenes and confirmed that the new story continues the events after the kaiju attack in the previous film.

Two years after Godzilla Minus One , the plot follows the survivors as they try to rebuild their lives. However, the threat returns even stronger. Director Takashi Yamazaki confirmed that the monster is now advancing towards the United States, particularly targeting New York City.
The new film retains Yamazaki as screenwriter and director, and boasts a larger budget than its predecessor. Godzilla Minus One grossed approximately US$116 million worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 2023 Academy Awards Hollywood productions .

Furthermore, Godzilla Minus Zero marks the first Japanese production in the franchise filmed for IMAX exhibition. The preview shown highlighted destroyed scenery, military aircraft, and the iconic confrontation with the Statue of Liberty.
The cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki , Minami Hamabe , and Munetaka Aoki , reprising their roles. The premiere takes place on November 3rd in Japan and November 6th in the United States. Meanwhile, Hollywood is also exploring the universe with Godzilla vs. Kong: Supernova, scheduled for next year.
