The film Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe began its run in American cinemas with solid numbers. The sequel to the Gundam franchise grossed approximately US$810,000 in its opening weekend in the United States, securing the 13th position at the local box office.

The film was shown in 894 cinemas and performed best on Friday, when it grossed approximately US$428,000. In Japan, the film had already premiered in January, topping the national box office and accumulating more than 2.3 billion yen by March.

Meanwhile, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie continues to hold its own in American theaters. The film, produced by Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal, ranked 6th in its seventh week, adding $4.45 million to the US box office.

The film has already grossed over $418 million in the North American market alone. Furthermore, the sequel reunites some of the creative team from the first film, including directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, as well as composer Brian Tyler.

The project marks Kawamori's first original feature film unrelated to previous franchises. The director, known for series such as Macross and Aquarion, worked alongside the studio SANZIGEN on the anime's production.
