Many Japanese manga artists choose to leave their identities anonymous when their story is successful and has repercussions around the world. However, a new law has emerged in Japan that aims to break this barrier of anonymity and force manga artists to reveal their faces.

According to a report from Daily Dose of Anime , Japan's new law will require real names for registrations with tax collection agencies as part of the new "qualified invoice system." In other words, the law will prevent manga artists from creating pseudonyms to hide their identities from the public. So people who avoid the cameras, like Tatsuki Fujimoto (author of Chainsaw Man) and Kohei Horikoshi (author of My Hero Academia), will be pressured to reveal their faces.
Furthermore, there are also manga artists like Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen) and Koyoharu Gotouge (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), who use pseudonyms to hide their gender in addition to their real name. However, this law could force them to reveal their gender even if they don't want to.
Other authors do not make public appearances because they have already received death threats on social networks or in their own home. Some fans commented on this on social media, saying that the law is unfair for forcing manga artists to reveal themselves. At the same time, the comments emphasize that this would also be an invasion of privacy for the authors.
