The official website for the animated film Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish) from studio BONES, inspired by the eponymous story by Seiko Tanabe, announced this Friday (June 12th) that the film's summer premiere will be postponed.

However, ongoing discussions about the state of Japan due to the development of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were mentioned. Above all, the website will announce a new release date soon, and a new visual for the film was also revealed, featuring the two main characters, Tsuneo and Josee, on the streets of Osaka.

Synopsis

The story centers on the relationship between Tsuneo and Josee. Tsuneo is a university student, and Josee is a young girl who rarely leaves her house because she is unable to walk. The two first meet when Tsuneo encounters Josee's grandmother taking her for a morning walk.

Staff

Kotaro Tamura (Noragami) is directing the anime. Nao Emoto (Maidens in Your Savage Season) designed the original character designs, and Haruko Iizuka is doing the designs for the animation and also collaborating as chief animation director. Sayaka Kuwamura is writing the script. Loundraw (Tsuki ga Kirei, I want to eat your pancreas – character design) is credited with the conceptual design. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is composing the music. Shochiku and Kadokawa will distribute the film.

Furthermore, Tanabe published the original story in 1985 in a collection of short stories. The story inspired a live-action film in 2003.
