Publisher Shueisha reported today that with the initial print run of 2.15 million copies of the 17th volume of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga , it will have 55 million copies in circulation (including print and digital copies, as well as copies not yet sold).
Sales of the manga have grown by around 650% since the debut of its anime , which aired in October last year . The 15th volume of the work had 1.5 million copies in its initial print run, and this was the first time that any of the manga's volumes had more than 1 million copies in its initial print run.
The 16th volume of Jujutsu Kaisen had 2 million copies in its initial print run, putting the manga at 50 million copies when it was released on June 4 .
Synopsis
Suffering, regret, shame: humans' negative feelings become Curses, causing terrible accidents that can even lead to death. And to make matters worse, Curses can only be exorcised by other Curses. One day, to save friends who were being attacked by Curses, Yuji Itadori swallows Ryomen-Sukuna's finger, absorbing his Curse. He then decides to enroll in the Tokyo Technical College of Sorcery, an organization that fights Curses... and so begins the heroic legend of the boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse.
Author Gege Akutami launched the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump March 2018 .
