One of the animators from studio MAPPA involved in the production of Jujutsu Kaisen was accused of racism after making a joke considered offensive to Asians. On Twitter, animator Bannogawa_b shared a drawing of Satoru Gojo and Shoko Ieiri making a gesture known as “fox eyes” towards Suguro Geto . However, the profile deleted the tweet after receiving accusations of being racist.

Some people consider the “fox eyes” gesture to be a harmless joke, but many also consider it to be offensive to Asians. According to the story, this gesture serves to point out people's negative stereotypes. So the animator's drawing was interpreted as a gesture of racism by Jujutsu Kaisen fans.
Due to the wave of criticism, the animator published another drawing of Gojo making the “gomen” expression to apologize. However, some people didn't think it was right to make jokes through the characters and questioned the profile again.

Anyway, the entertainer made another apology to try to alleviate the situation and stated that he would keep work matters to a minimum.

Synopsis:

So, to protect his friends and innocent people, Yuji decides to join the jujutsu sorcerers as a student in training under the guardianship of Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer of all.
The first season of the anime premiered in October 2020 and had 24 episodes animated by studio MAPPA . The studio also handled the production of the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 , which takes place a few years before the main series and tells the story of young Yuta Okkotsu.
