Umi is the type of person who naturally becomes the center of attention, and classmates even whisper behind her back that she's "the second prettiest girl in the class." However, Masaki believed she belonged to a completely different world from his… until fate decided to surprise him. Here comes a heartfelt and emotional romantic comedy starring a boy who lives in the shadows and his "second heroine"!

I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class (Class de 2 Banme ni Kawaii Onna no Ko to Tomodachi) is a Japanese romantic comedy light novel series written by Takata.

However, the work began to be published online in November 2020 on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu website, dedicated to user-created novels. Since December 2021, Kadokawa Shoten has taken over physical publication, releasing seven volumes to date under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label.

Finally, in addition to the light novel, the story also received a manga adaptation, illustrated by Rin Ono. Furthermore, its comic book version has been serialized online on Media Factory's Comic Alive+ website since July 2022 and already has five compiled volumes in tankōbon.
