Riot Games confirmed this week the first details of League of Legends Season 2, which premieres globally on April 30th. With Ionia as the central focus of the narrative and setting, the game will receive a complete visual update to the map, accompanied by a new wave of skins for seven popular champions.

The Spirit Blossom line returns in full force, now including Lux, Ashe, Irelia, Bard, Ivern, Varus, and Zyra. Among the most eye-catching new additions, Ashe and Irelia get legendary versions, while Lux receives a Prestige skin. The season also marks the arrival of a new champion to the MOBA's roster: Yunara, although a release date has not yet been set.
Floral skins and a themed map dominate the new phase
The choice of Ionia as the backdrop for League of Legends Season 2 sets the tone for the visual update. Summoner's Rift will be redesigned to reflect the region's mystical style, with vibrant colors and nature-inspired effects. While it won't receive elements from Noxus, as it did last season, the map will have a new atmosphere and identity.
The Spirit Blossom skins follow this same aesthetic. Lux appears in a golden and ethereal version in the Prestige model, while Irelia and Ashe shine with unique animations and visual effects in the Legendary editions. Riot promised that these versions will have "deep narrative details" tied to the game's new arc.

The brand-new champion Yunara is also part of this theme. With her design still a secret, she is expected to expand the universe of Ionia with nature-related abilities. A teaser has already been released, but there is no official release date yet.
Brawl mode debuts with faster and more intense matches
Among the most anticipated additions of the season is the Brawl game mode. However, the idea is simple: an arena where two teams fight until they reduce the opponent's health bar from 250 to zero. No towers, no objectives. Just pure combat in matches that last up to ten minutes.
Unlike ARAM, here the player can choose their favorite champion, without relying on luck or random selection. Furthermore, the aim is to create a more dynamic and direct environment, focused on the fun chaos of teamfights. Thus, the developer compared the mode to a "battle of vibes".
Brawl mode will be available at the start of the season, serving as a casual and fast-paced alternative to traditional matches. It's Riot's strategy to keep the game appealing for short, casual sessions.
System changes promise more balance and practicality
In addition to the new visuals and modes in League of Legends, Riot will implement changes to the gameplay system. The first of these is the ability to switch positions with other players during the champion selection phase — a feature highly requested by the community.
To prevent unplanned changes, support characters will now automatically receive the World Atlas item, eliminating the chance for strategic swaps after the start of the match. Atakhan, a special creature on the map, gains a new form and now offers a 25% bonus effect to the player who manages to defeat it.
Another important change is in the reward system. Starting with the new season, only the winning team will receive gold bonuses, which should reduce unbalanced comebacks and give more credit to those who dominate the game from the beginning.
Spiritual Blossom leads the visual and narrative renewal of League of Legends
With the arrival of Season 2, League of Legends reinforces its tendency to unite narrative and gameplay in grand visual events. The return of the Spirit Blossom line acts as a connecting thread between the new visuals, the map redesign, and the introduction of Yunara.
Riot Games is showing that it's focused on keeping the MOBA relevant not only in terms of gameplay, but also as an aesthetic and narrative experience. The new phase officially begins on April 30th and promises to excite the community with brand new content, themed events, and, of course, many breathtaking skins.
